See The Trailer For Bruce Springsteen's Intimate 'Western Stars' Film

Bruce Springsteen hasn't done any public concerts in support of his latest solo album, Western Stars, but fans are still getting a chance to see the one private show in the upcoming film of the same name.

A release date has not been made public yet, but the film Western Stars is set to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival between Sept. 5 and Sept. 15.

Directed by Springsteen's longtime filmmaking collaborator Thom Zimny, the Boss's latest film documents his orchestra-backed performance of Western Stars and chronicles his journey to departing his usual sound to make the new album.

The performance scenes of the film was shot in a barn on Springsteen's property. The film weaves archival footage of Springsteen around the concert film and also includes his personal narration.

"I've spent 35 years trying to learn how to let go of the destructive parts of my character," Springsteen says in the trailer. "And I still have days when I struggle with it. ...We all have our broken pieces. Emotionally, spiritually, in this life nobody gets away unhurt."

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer said not long after announcing the new album that, after a rigorous year of Springsteen on Broadway, he had no plans to tour on Western Stars.

That's why he made the film.

Western Stars should arrive in theaters in October.

Springsteen reportedly plans to begin recording again with the E Street Band in the fall, with another tour coming in 2020.
