Bob Dylan has re-recorded one of his most enduring songs six decades after its initial release in order to put one single copy of it up for auction this summer.

Dylan's 2021 version of "Blowin' in the Wind" was recorded and mastered to a new audio medium called Ionic Original. The lone copy of the song will be sold via Christie's Auction House in London on July 7.

Ionic Original is a hybrid audio format made from materials used in construction of both vinyl records and CDs. The result is a durable analog disc that preserves the highest audio quality. Dylan's collaborator T Bone Burnett, with whom he made the new recording, called Ionic Original "the pinnacle of recorded sound."

"Sixty years after Bob first wrote and recorded 'Blowin' in the Wind,' he is giving us a new recording of his song, one that is both deeply relevant for our times and resonant with decades of the artist's life and experience," Burnett said in a statement. "We're grateful to Christie's for their belief in the Ionic Original and for presenting Bob's masterful recording to the world in a unique and meaningful way."

You'll have to schedule an appointment with Christie's to hear the new recording. The auction house is scheduling appointments in Los Angeles on June 8, in New York on June 15 and in London from July 2 through July 7.

It's estimated that the recording will sell for between $750,000 and $1.2 million.

Dylan wrote "Blowin' in the Wind" in 1962 and began performing a version of the song live as early as the spring of that year. The studio recording was first released in 1963 as a single and on Dylan's second studio album, The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan.

The song quickly became and anthem of the '60s civil rights movement and remains one of the most iconic folk songs ever recorded.
